THANK YOU!

Indomitable

/inˈdämədəb(ə)l/

adjective

  1. impossible to subdue or defeat.

To our community members and supporters,

Mountainfilm and Mountainfilm on Tour have a vision to “educate and inspire audiences, and motivate individuals and communities to advance solutions for a livable world.” The official slogan of the festival reads: “celebrating indomitable spirit.” Here in Squamish, these are values we can get behind.

You braved the snow and rain, wind and sleet, and even a last minute venue change to make Mountainfilm on Tour a massive success. We are humbled by your support and couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you! In spite of the obstacles that were thrown our way we had a record-breaking night of films and fundraising at Squamish Elementary, raising over $17,000 and proving yet again that our community is in fact indomitable in body and in spirit!

If you were unable to join us on November 6th, here are just a few highlights from an inspiring evening of art and ideas at Squamish Elementary (our backup venue due to the nasty weather forecast on the day):

  • 10 specially curated documentary short films originally selected to premiere at the internationally-acclaimed Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, Colorado.
  • An online silent auction featuring 71 items donated by local businesses and sponsors, valued at over $10,000.
  • Auction winners from as far as away as Port Alberni, Oliver and even Ontario!
  • A raffle with 11 prize draws with the top two prizes from Helly Hansen and Urban Alpine valued at nearly $2500.
  • 20+ pizzas from Panago, Samosas from Bisla’s, and a full assortment of desserts and sweets to satisfy those movie munchies.
  • A whole lot of rad people supporting a good cause.

Of course, we also need to thank all of the local businesses and our sponsors who so generously donated items to our silent auction and raffle draws without whom we would not have had an event to invite you to. A very special thank you to VentureWeb Design Ltd. for sponsoring and bringing Mountainflim on Tour back to Squamish and to our official uniform provider, Helly Hansen, for their unwavering support. We would be remiss not to also give a special mention to Sea to Sky Gondola who, in spite of the unforeseen weather circumstances, were willing hosts and partners from the very beginning. There are dozens, if not hundreds of others who equally deserve to be recognized, and you can find a complete list of donors and sponsors here.

Squamish Search and Rescue has always believed in the power of community. We know that amazing things will be accomplished when people come together with a focus on a singular goal for the betterment of all people. Your support helps SSAR provide life-saving services to every member of the Squamish outdoor community – which, let’s face it, is pretty much the entire Squamish population!

Thank you, from all of us at Squamish Search and Rescue. See you next year!
